TAG QUESTIONS
We started on "Tag Questions" today!! Students need to pay attention and practice with this! It can be confusing, but very easy if you practice with different kinds of questions, and you hear the pattern!
We did the last part of page 4. Many students had questions, so please look at these examples!
When you have a tag question, this is what happens.
-you first have a sentence
-that sentence then has a question after it
(that question is the "TAG" question!)
Rule to remember : If the first part (the sentence) is POSITIVE, then the end of the sentence, the TAG QUESTION is NEGATIVE! It's always opposites!!! If the first part is NEGATIVE then the question is POSITIVE!
Negative sentence = if the sentence has the word "not", it is a negative sentence!
Rule to remember : ALWAYS look at the verb!!! The verb in the first part of the sentence must MATCH the tag question!
Look at these examples!!! And practice!!
- You love to study English, don't you?
- She lives in Ramallah, doesn't she?
- You are so scared, aren't you?
- They will go to the mall, won't they?
- We are not going, are we?
- He likes to read, doesn't he?
Try these at home:
- She is your sister, __________________?
- You are not from here, _______________?
- He will go to Jenin, _______________?

Welcome to your 2nd Week of School!
Section 5A and 5B
Please remember the behavior rule. Remember that your points for behavior every day is very important. It is 20 points! It's just like a daily quiz! Many of you are losing points every day. You must come to class ready and you must listen in class! We started on our Workbooks and our Pupil's Books today. We started on page 4 in both of our books. We finished page 4 in the workbook in class, and I checked everyone's books. If you received a check and a star, EXCELLENT! you have a full grade in class participation. Those of you who did not finish, must finish this page.
We also started on Lesson 1 called "The Sea"
We brainstormed words such as : ocean, lake, sea, pond, and lake to think about different bodies of water.
Tomorrow in class we will continue working on Lesson 1. We will focus on "Tag Questions". Be ready to learn!

It's a new month! Here's what we did yesterday and today!
**In class we made cards. In each card students wrote down a personal promise for them, but also for me, an for you (parents). They wrote "I will be THE BEST I can be!" . This is their behavior card. If they are in their best behavior, students will receive a 20/20 for their daily behavior grade, and on the back of the card, they receive a star.
Behavior Warnings are as follows :
Fighting - 0/20
Talking, shouting, not raising hands - X
If you receive more than 3 X's in a period, I will talk to the student's parents and to Ms. Rania.
Next week, I will make a chart with everyone's names. You will be able to see your name and how many stars you get every week! :)
We also started reviewing a little bit of grammar. I want to remind you about PRESENT CONTINUOUS verbs!
Remember that Present Continuous just means : VERB + ING
Example :
Verb : play Present Continuous : Playing
I gave you all a worksheet. I hope it was not too difficult. I will be giving back the worksheet tomorrow.
We also made "about me" cards! This is the written project for this week and we will work more on this tomorrow!
Next week we will start using the books, and I would also like for all the student to have their three notebooks and their English folder!
:)

5A
I didn't see you for as many lessons as I saw 5b. However, we did start on a story today in class called "Jimmy's Treasure". We will finish the story tomorrow. We will also do the worksheet on Present Continuous verbs. If we have time in class tomorrow, we will start making the "About Me" cards. If we don't, don't worry, we will do this project next week!Parents
This week I saw section 5B six times and 5A only once. Because of this, their worksheets are different. However, the important thing is that I wanted to review a little bit of grammar before starting on the Bright Star books. I want both sections to be comfortable with Present Continuous verbs, and I want them to have their worksheets completed!Next week we will start using the books, and I would also like for all the student to have their three notebooks and their English folder!
